Arcade survival
Arcade is an endless, three-life challenge with relaxed, normal, and expert difficulty. Choose a vocabulary pack, add numbers or punctuation, build a score multiplier, and face a three-stage carrier every fifth sector.
Read the threat. Type the word.
Hold your orbit.
Endless survival. Three lives. How far can you go?
Type Astra turns keyboard practice into space combat. Finish the word or short sentence attached to an approaching enemy before it reaches your defense line. Your flight report shows accuracy and words per minute (WPM), so you can compare your own sessions and choose what to practice next.
Arcade is an endless, three-life challenge with relaxed, normal, and expert difficulty. Choose a vocabulary pack, add numbers or punctuation, build a score multiplier, and face a three-stage carrier every fifth sector.
Practice sessions run for one, two, or five minutes at a pace you select. Choose everyday, space, technology, nature, or short-sentence targets, and enter focus letters to prioritize words containing keys you want to improve.
The standard Sprint gives you 90 seconds under fixed rules while the pace escalates. Endless Sprint removes the clock and continues to speed up until three escaped targets end the flight.
Overall WPM divides correct characters by five and by elapsed typing-session minutes; pauses are excluded, but time waiting for a target still counts. Flight results also show engaged WPM, which measures only active typing time and leaves out longer gaps between keystrokes. Accuracy is based on correct keystrokes compared with all counted attempts.
Type Astra is a free, single-player typing game that runs in your browser. Type words or short sentences to destroy approaching spaceships, practice specific keys, and track your typing speed and accuracy. No account or download is required.
It is a typing game with practice and speed measurements, not a certified typing test. Arcade combat, target selection, and gaps between targets affect the overall WPM, so compare similar flights rather than treating the score as interchangeable with a continuous typing test.
Yes. Choose Short sentences in Arcade or Practice. Space types a gap when the current target expects one; otherwise it activates a pulse. Sprint uses the fixed everyday-word pack.
Arcade is endless survival with three lives. Sprint also has an Endless sprint option that removes the 90-second timer and continues accelerating until you lose all three lives.
Characters per second (CPS) counts correct target characters, including spaces and punctuation. Live CPS shows the last three seconds divided by three, including at the start of a flight. Average CPS in your flight report uses all correct characters divided by session seconds. Pauses are excluded; waiting for targets counts. Mistakes and control keys do not add characters. An average of 5 CPS equals 60 WPM before rounding.
Your flight history, settings, and personal records are stored locally in this browser, not in an account. They do not sync between devices, and clearing browser storage can remove them.
Browser storage is unavailable. You can play, but this session’s progress will not be saved.
